Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) about SportActive’s Mallorca Cycling Tours
Over the years we have been asked numerous questions about different aspects of our Mallorca cycle tours. In this post we attempt to answer those questions to help bring about clarity and to help you find the information you want quickly.
What are the average temperatures in Mallorca?
February to early March temperatures hover between 16-20° C. From March – April temperatures reach 24-26° C. In May temperatures reach a steady 28° C. While September to October temperatures reach 24-28° C during the day. These are ideal for cycling.
Why is Mallorca a ‘cycling paradise’?
As well as perfect cycling temperatures, Mallorca’s smooth, endless, and undulating roads are perfect to ride. The Tramuntana mountain range provides all the climbing, cornering, descending, and peloton challenges you could ever want, and the culture of the island is very cycling friendly.
Would you recommend hiring a bike rather than bringing one?
Yes. Packing your bike for a flight carries a bit of a risk and you have to get it to your departure airport. Once you land in Mallorca you have to get it to the hotel and build it. The reverse is true when you leave. Hiring one of our bikes means all you have to bring are your pedals and helmet to be good to go. It is more cost effective to hire one of our bikes than bring your own.
We have a great range of road bikes. We have full carbon bikes of various brands. The best bike we provide is a full carbon machine with Di2 electronic gear shifting.
We can also provide trekking and mountain bikes for the more leisure minded rider. You can see our Mallorca bike hire options here.
How good do I have to be to go on a Mallorca Cycle Training holiday?
Providing you can ride a bike you are good enough to ride a SportActive Mallorca Cycle training camp or holiday. Our riders range from complete beginners to experienced and advanced road cyclists.
We use a group system so you will be placed with riders of similar ability. This ensures you are never held back or stretched too far. It enhances your enjoyment of cycling and helps you progress faster.
We know the island well and rides are structured to the level of your group.
The only Mallorca cycling tour where you need experience and fitness is the M312 sportive. Talk to us if you want more information about the sportive.
You give coaching advice. What do you concentrate on?
We concentrate on the following areas:
- Climbing/descending
- Pacing
- Peloton Riding
- Cornering
- Gear use
- Braking
- Bike safety and coordination
How challenging the rides are will depend on your ability level.
Our camps begin again in February with our Early Season Training Camp. Here you can build base miles and fitness, and adopt a pro style.
