| Mallorca 312 first edition |

Great success of the first edition of the cyclosportive Mallorca 312, held on Sa 5th June, 2010. About 200 riders were on the start line; last Saturday 5th June, 2010 at 07:15. The weather was sunny - you would expect this in Mallorca ! - with moderate temperatures in the morning but quite hot in the afternoon. Departure and finish lines were at the Hotel Iberostar in Playa de Muro (Puerto Alcudia). The route went round the island through la Sierra de Tramuntana, Calviá, Palma de Mallorca, El Arenal, Porto Cristo and Artá . Winner was the Austrian Harald Sandner with a time of 10 hours, 12 minutes, 16 seconds and an average speed of 30,6 km/h for the 312 km. At the same time took place the shorter version, the Decathlon 167, through the Tramuntana mountains, in the north of the island. The winner was the local cyclist, Juan Fernández Seguí, in 5 hours, 56 minutes and an average speed of 28 km/h. Famous names of the international cyclists scene were seen at the Mallorca 312 : the Spanish Pedro Horrillo with start number 1, a special tribute from the organizers, Roger Hammond, Joan Horrach, Toni Tauler y Toni Colom. Roger Hammond, from the Cervelo Test Team, was part of the SportActive Team for this first edition of the Mallorca 312. The cyclists riding over the arrivals line after more than 14 hours in the saddle received a warm welcome from a big crowd waiting for them at the hotel Ibero Star Playa de Muro. The riders were positive about the experience also it was a big challenge for most of them. The date of the second edition has been confirmed for Saturday, May 14th, 2011 A SportActive Team, with Alastair and Martin, rode The Mallorca 312. It was a great success for the Team taking the 1st place in the Team Awards Category. It was also awarded a 1st place for the Team registered from the farest country.
